The BlueBird EF551 is the 5G successor in the EF series, a compact rugged Android mobile computer for scanning-heavy work in stores, warehouses and the field. It moves to a Qualcomm QC6490 2.7 GHz octa-core processor with Android 12, upgradeable to Android 16. Standard and ultra-rugged SKUs let buyers match durability, from 1.5 m / 5 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft drops, to the job.

- 5.45-inch HD+ display at 400 nits, or 600 nits as an option, for good outdoor visibility.
- SE4720 standard engine reads from up to 60 cm / 24 in; SE4770 and SE55 advanced-range engines are optional.
- Standard SKU handles 1.5 m / 5 ft drops from -10 °C to 50 °C / 14 °F to 122 °F; the ultra-rugged SKU takes 2.4 m / 8 ft drops and 2,000 tumbles.
- BlueBird RFR series UHF RFID readers attach directly through the rear pogo interface.
- BOS PTT push-to-talk lets staff exchange calls and messages over Wi-Fi wherever they are.
